Characteristics
Foliage: scale like leaves of an intense dark green, held all year for a dense evergreen effect. Shape: strictly columnar, with branches growing close to the trunk and vertically, an extremely compact outline that makes it ideal for limited spaces. Growth: slow to moderate, reaching 8-12 m in height and only 0.5-1 m across.

Growing and care
Full sun and well drained soil; very drought tolerant once established and tolerant of heat and wind, though heavy snow can splay the crown, so it is worth tying it in. Clip only lightly, and tie the stems where needed.

Formal vertical accents, avenues and rhythmic rows, Mediterranean and contemporary gardens, narrow spaces and large containers.
