Cupressus arizonica, the Arizona cypress, is an evergreen conifer valued for its blue-green foliage and its ability to cope with difficult conditions. Native to the mountains of the south-western United States and Mexico, it is often used in landscaping for its ornamental beauty and its resilience.

Characteristics
Foliage: scale like leaves of blue-green to grey-green, pleasantly aromatic when crushed; the dense foliage adds to the tree's ornamental effect. Growth: conical to pyramidal in habit, reaching 10-25 m in height and 6-10 m across depending on conditions and cultivar. Bark: red-brown and flaking in strips.

Growing and care
Full sun and well drained soil, even poor, stony or calcareous; outstandingly drought and heat tolerant once established, and hardy. Prune only lightly, avoiding cuts into old wood.

Uses
Windbreaks and screens in dry climates, specimen planting for its blue foliage, parks and roadside planting.
