Cotoneaster procumbens 'Queen of Carpets' is an evergreen with a creeping, carpeting habit.

Characteristics
The branches spread horizontally and can reach about a metre across each, forming a dense mat of small glossy dark green leaves. The fruits are particularly decorative: small, round and deep red, and much appreciated by birds. Flowering is in spring, with small white to pink flowers that attract pollinating insects.

Growing and care
A hardy plant suited to different soils provided they are well drained, preferring a sunny or partially shaded position. It needs little care: prune to keep a compact shape and to remove any damaged stems, and water while establishing.

Uses
Ground cover on banks and slopes, over low walls, in front of shrub borders, in car park and roadside planting and in containers where it can trail.
