Coprosma x kirkii 'Kirkii Variegata' is an evergreen from New Zealand, of the Rubiaceae family, widely valued for its beauty and its resilience.

Characteristics
The leaves are small, narrow and glossy, with a distinctive colour range from dark green to cream that brings vibrant colour to any green space; the habit is low and spreading, almost ground covering.

Growing and care
Relatively easy to grow and needing little special care, it suits most soils provided they are well drained. It prefers a position in sun, though it adapts to light shade; ideally give it at least 4-6 hours of direct sun a day. It tolerates drought and salt spray but is damaged below about -5 °C, so in cold areas grow it in pots. Trim lightly in spring.

Uses
Ground cover on banks and in gravel schemes, edging, seaside gardens, and containers and window boxes.
