Cedrus deodara 'Pendula'

Cedrus deodara 'Pendula' is a weeping form of the Himalayan cedar, particularly attractive for ornamental use.

Characteristics
A medium sized, fairly slow growing tree whose main feature is the pendulous branches, which create an elegant, ornamental cascade. The needles are like those of the standard Himalayan cedar but a slightly lighter green, generally about 2-3 cm long. Male and female cones are borne on the same plant, the males small and yellowish, the females larger and upright on the higher branches.

Growing and care
Sun and deep, well drained soil; hardy and drought tolerant once established. Train the leader up a stake to the desired height, then allow the branches to fall naturally; prune only to remove damaged wood.

Uses
A sculptural specimen for lawns, banks, rock gardens and modern gardens, and effective cascading over walls or beside water.
