Characteristics
Bright green leaves on arching stems and fragrant flowers borne in profusion from June to September, in a clear pink, much visited by butterflies and other pollinators.

Growing and care
Tough and easy to grow: full sun and any well drained soil, with watering while it establishes. Pruning is the key task, since it flowers on the current year's growth: cut the main stems hard back to about one metre every spring. Removing spent flower heads extends the display.

Uses
A graceful, colourful shrub for mixed borders, planted singly or in groups, for informal screens and for wildlife gardens.
